Each edition of ‘Try Now’ Tuesday highlights a new App Store Demo built for a top developer. Catch up on the rest here.

Background:

Fumb Games are known as the world’s first Hyper-Idle Studio, a genre that mixes the mechanics of idle games with the appeal of hyper-casual. Fumb Games has recently released two games, Zombie Labs and Bitcoin Miner, and reached 1,000,000 worldwide players.

As apart of its promotional strategy for zombie idle-clicker, Zombie Labs: Idle Tycoon, Fumb Games looked to create and enable its Google Play Instant app (enabling a “Try Now” button on its Google Play app page) to convince new, interested users to install.

Being an indie game developer, co-founder and CTO Oscar Mullan knew it was important to partner with a creation platform to launch quickly and to not take any Fumb Games developers off current projects.

“AppOnboard’s creation platform was easy to partner with, and we were able to launch our instant app in October 2018 in a matter of days,” said Mullan. Check out the video of the first version of the instant app below:

After reviewing the insight reports compiled by the AppOnboard team (includes standard reporting, user drop-off data, and user touch heat maps), Fumb Games noticed that many users were tapping on zombie characters in the game. The completion rate of the first unit was also below 70%, which was slightly lower compared to the other instant apps AppOnboard have created and launched.

Together, Fumb Games and AppOnboard, worked to create a second version of the instant app that was shorter and focused more on quick interactions that unlocked special zombies. Check out a video of the refreshed creative below:

What We Love About the Latest Version:

  1. Includes quick, fun interactions (e.g. “Tap the egg to unleash the bounty!”) that include a simple storyline from the game
  2. Engaging, thematic music throughout

Not only did the instant app’s completion rate increase, but it saw a nearly 50% increase in install rate (+48%) when compared to the original version.

“AppOnboard’s platform allows for quick creation of instant apps that uphold the quality of the actual game,” said Mullan. “We look forward to continuing to leverage the platform to create, optimize, and launch instant apps for our entire suite of games moving forward.”
